The Garmisch School Age Services program offers after school programs during the school year, and summer care and camps during school vacations to eligible children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Through partnerships with groups such as National 4-H, Character Counts and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we help your children learn to work with their strengths, interests, and each other, to feel good about themselves, and to grow as individuals. We offer programs in the Army four core services areas: leisure, recreation, and the arts; sport and fitness; life skills, citizenship and leadership; and mentoring and support services.
We want to ensure every child who walks through our doors leaves with having a positive experience and a smile on their face.
Accreditation and Certification:
The Garmisch School Age Services program is nationally accredited with the National Afterschool Association (NAC) and fully certified by the Department of Defense. The accreditation process assures parents of a commitment to a program that provides responsive care, trained and professional staff, a safe and healthy environment, and consistent program improvement and quality.
Programming:
Regular programming at School Age Services includes a homework lab, technology center, leadership opportunities, community service projects, outdoor play and gross motor activities, interest centers and snack and/or breakfast/lunch. Meals provided at SAS are approved by the Army CYS dietician and serving sizes are monitored to ensure your child is eating a healthy diet.
We offer a variety of 4-H clubs on a regular basis. Clubs include technology, photography, community service, art, drama, cooking, science, sewing, woodworking, gardening, small pets, hiking and many more. We enter art and photographs from the 4-H clubs in our local 4-H exhibits.
Through our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America we also offer programs in character/leadership development, education/career development, health/life skills, arts, and sports/fitness/recreation. Every year the Garmisch Child, Youth & School Services hosts a local BGCA Art Exhibit in December and a Photography Exhibit in March. Your child's art and photography are showcased during these events.
During summer camp we take advantage of our unique location with field trips to a wide variety of local attractions. These may include trips to museums, zoos, swimming pools, amusement parks, rodelbahns and hikes in the Bavarian Alps and surrounding foothills.
